Amul's Milk: How good is it?

Almost every Indian start his day with milk ( in form of tea, coffee, chocolate milk, etc.,,,) and rather than local vendors, urban house wives started preferring Amul's Milk and for that it is very important to know the quality of the same.

To understand quality of Amul's product we should first know that how and from where they collect milk? 


Milk is drawn from udder of healthy cow's and buffalo's after rinsing udder and pail with warm water or by mean of milking machine. Than milk is transferred to closed pail and  then poured at collecting centers usually knows Mandali.

Mandalis are now equipped with advanced cooling tanks, these tanks are capable for cooling up to 20000 Liters of milk withing 2-3 hours so that bacteria can not grow. Collection of whole day is stored and cooled in this tanks until transport tanker is arrived at Mandali.

This road tankers are well insulated so that milk remained cooled until it reach factory(Processing Plant). Once milk reached in factory premises, it has to go through strict observation and tests for its initial quality and bacterial load. If milk pass in those tests then only it taken in chilling unit to chill below 5 degree Celsius.

 Once milk is chilled and standardized (adjusting of milk fat and solid-not-fat) according to rules and regulation of India (FSSAI), milk is pasteurized, Pasteurization means milk is heated utpo 72-73 degree Celsius for 15 sec, so that all harmful bacteria for human get destroyed. Again it has to pass through some tests that determine its final quality, some tests may required 5-6 hours to complete. Now after positive results of all tests quality department give green signal to pack this milk in pouches and in Tetra-bricks.

High speed, advanced and sanitary machines are capable of filling pouches without human interfere, and this things minimize the post contamination and speed of 80-120 pouches per minute. The film in which milk is filled is also specially designed for milk, for ghee according to nature of product. This film prevent entering of oxygen, light and hold the product.

Now packed pouches are arranged in one tray having capacity of 24 pouches of 500 ml and 12 pouches of 1 liters. Trays are also cleaned automatically with soda/lye and hot water to ensure free from external dust and dirt. These filled trays are staked up to 10 trays one over one and stored in cold storage at temperature of 5 degree Celsius.

Now according to orders from retailer, marketing department, start loading trays of insulated truck according best suitable route to minimized transportation cost or burden from customer's shoulder.

Final pouch reached to your local retailer's fridge and from that it reach to your home and from that into your cup of coffee.
